Biodiversity loss, ecosystem degradation, and climate change are the defining challenges of our time. We are already experiencing their impacts and we are continually being inundated with bleak projections.
And yet, while nature persists, hope remains.
Here in Malaysia, our forests and wetlands, reefs and mountains house a wondrous bounty of biodiversity and productive ecosystems that are important for human well-being. They are also an essential nature-based solution to climate change. As a nation and a society, we have a critical role to play in a global crisis. What the future looks like will depend very much on the actions we, as a human community, make today.
Although the challenges are daunting, we are also not without agency. At all levels of society, we can direct efforts and resources to protect and preserve, to revive, restore and regenerate. We can engender the positive transformations in society through education, engagement and the pursuit of participation.
We can dare greatly.
And we must do so, because all life depends on it.
It is in the spirit that The Habitat Foundation is now calling for applications for its THF Grants. The THF Grants are intended for individuals and organizations that understand this urgency and are committed to the pursuit of knowledge, insights, and innovation, and their application to advance conservation and sustainability.
We welcome applications for projects and initiatives that have the potential to make strategic and significant contributions within one or more of our five pillars: Conservation, Research, Education, Sustainability, and Training. THF Grants are meant to provide opportunities for academicians, students, researchers, community members, trainers and environmental practitioners to undertake strategic initiatives to strengthen species protection, enhance protected area management, and build capacity for sustainability and environmental education in all its forms. The size of the grants range from RM15,000 to RM50,000.
Whether the work focuses on conservation initiatives, cutting-edge research, innovative educational programmes, sustainability-driven projects, or training efforts, THF Grants are designed to facilitate and accelerate progress. The Habitat Foundation recognises that change comes from different disciplines and perspectives. We embrace collaborative approaches to preserving our natural heritage and safeguarding a future for all life.
The Application Window for THF Grants 2024 has now Closed.
