Giving them the exposure, skills and encouragement they need now will help them demonstrate their capabilities and lay the foundation for future impact. We are delighted to be working with Kelab Alami Mukim Tanjung Kupang in Johor, and the new Rapid Response Conservation Unit of Fuze Ecoteer in the Perhentian Islands of Terengganu. … [Read more...] about Empowering the next generation of community leaders

Investing in building local capacity for Sustainable Tourism

The Habitat Foundation Sustainable Tourism Grants have been created to strengthen the links between ecotourism and conservation. The new cuti-cuti Malaysia: towards conscious travel to make a difference

In the broadest sense of the word, ‘ecotourism’ is a set of travel practices which support the natural environment. The concept of ecotourism aims to provide a fulfilling and positive experience for tourists while taking concerted efforts to reduce environmental impact which is commonly associated with conventional mass tourism. Malaysia has long been able to count on its biodiversity-rich forests, coral reefs, geological monuments, and sandy beaches to attract international tourists in search of unforgettable travel experiences. … [Read more...] about The new cuti-cuti Malaysia: towards conscious travel to make a difference

Sustainable Forest Trail to Gunung Perlis to revitalize Perlis State Park

The Habitat Foundation, as part of its commitment to strengthening protected areas in Malaysia, is partnering with the Perlis Forestry Department to build a 12 km Sustainable Forest Trail to Gunung Perlis. The Gunung Perlis Trail, as it will be known, will enable park visitors to enjoy a scenic hike through this distinctive semi-deciduous forest to summit Gunung Perlis atop the Nakawan Range. The range forms a natural border with Thailand with Thaleban National Park on the other side, making it an important regional transboundary … [Read more...] about Sustainable Forest Trail to Gunung Perlis to revitalize Perlis State Park
