Wong Pui May explores the links between people, nature, and culture in Dambulla, Sri Lanka

Wong Pui May is a community liaison manager affiliated with RIMBA. She has been working for the past year to facilitate community development initiatives at the Bateq village at the border of Taman Negara National Park. Ng Wai Pak presents Waterbird Census records from Malaysia at conference in Lonavla, India

Ng Wai Pak is a senior conservation officer at Malaysian Nature Society (MNS). He works primarily on wetland and migratory bird conservation. Bioacoustics training gives gibbon study a boost

Nurul Iza Adrina is a PhD candidate at USM. Her study of gibbon populations in Taman Negara National Park and Merapoh, Pahang uses bioacoustics monitoring technology as a tool to understand the behaviour and ecology of Malaysia's wild gibbons. To enable her to develop the skills to analyse her data, Iza received a THF Travel Grant to participate in a Sound Analysis Workshop at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. USM students participate in the International Congress for Conservation Biology 2019

Aini Hasanah and Zaki Zainol, students at the School of Biological Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, both received THF Travel Grants to attend the International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB), which took place in Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 25 July 2019. Aini, who is pursuing her PhD on Orang Utan conservation, was one of the Local Organizing Committee members, gave an oral presentation and developed an exhibition to showcase the work conservationists are doing in Malaysia under the banner of Conservation Optimism.
