Dr Hasnuri Mat Hassan is a senior lecturer at USM’s School of Biological Sciences. Her field of specialization is soil fertility focussing mainly on phosphorus status in soil or soil-like materials as well as the presence of arbuscular mycorrhiza (AMF), a soil borne fungi with potential use for bio-fertiliser. During the BioBlitz she will be investigating the abundance and diversity of arbuscular mycorrhiza sampled from rhizosphere soil of endemic plant species in order to determine the health of the plant as well as the general soil fertility status of Penang Hill. Dr Hasnuri has a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology and a MSc in Environmental Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her PhD in Agriculture and Natural Resources from the University of Adelaide, South Australia.
