Dr. Flavia Esteves is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Academy of Sciences. She has a PhD in Entomology from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has studied ants for more than 15 years. She integrates fieldwork, taxonomy, and community ecology analysis to discover and describe ant diversity, mainly in rainforest habitats. Dr. Flavia has extensive field experience in remote locations including Argentina, Borneo, Brazil, Lesser Antilles, Madagascar, Mozambique, Malawi, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Uganda, and Venezuela.
